Technical support and laboratory strengthening
Providing technical support to implement global polices establish and develop regional and national strategies in Member States. It does this while enhancing capacities for risk mitigation of priority high-threat pathogens, including seasonal and pandemic influenza in WHO’s SEA Region.
IHM works closely with National Public Health Laboratories, National Health Institutes, Regional reference laboratories and WHO collaborating centers providing technical cooperation to ensure high quality and safe diagnosis of priority high-threat pathogens. In alignment with the mandates of the organization, several strengthening and capacity building activities are being carried out at regional and country levels. These include areas like bio-risk management, quality management, laboratory-based surveillance, genomic sequencing and bioinformatics, regional and global networking etc.
